Wow, what a dream of a wedding this was to capture. It was a gorgeous day from beginning to end. The pretty town of Kenilworth looking its best in the sunshine, a gorgeous bride and groom. Their adorable little baby daughter, lovely family, the bride's family home a pretty cottage for bridal preparations and a castle, kilts (Kate's family hail from Scotland) and, to finish up the celebrations nicely, a ceilidh.
A pretty blue theme ran throughout the wedding from the stunning blue Hobbs bridesmaids dresses to the pretty wildflower bouquets and the fabulous blue sparkly ballet flats the bride wore for dancing in the evening. The bride's mode of transport was a red vintage Volvo which is owned by her friend who was chauffeur for the day.
I just loved the light in the ceremony room at Kenilworth Castle - although quite dark the beautiful light from the large window at one end of the room lit up the bridal party perfectly. It was a touching ceremony with a very proud father giving away his daughter and a tearful bride as she came to speak her vows.
Since she was a little girl growing up in the Warwickshire town of Kenilworth, Kate had dreamed of marrying at Kenilworth Castle and on this day her dream was made a reality. Kate and Rick had researched their photographers well and knew exactly what they wanted for their day. After a recommendation, Kate and Rick were put in touch with me and I couldn't wait to capture their magical day. We discovered some beautiful places for some portrait images before the bride and groom joined everyone for a barbeque outside the castle stables.
Then time for the speeches which were also very emotional and, as the groom and his family are from The Netherlands, breaking from British tradition, there were speeches from the grooms father and sister as well as a speech from the bride.
I hadn't had the opportunity to photograph a ceilidh before and was really looking forward to doing so. Before that though, Kate and Rick impressed everyone with their first dance and Kate showed off her fabulous (flat) blue dancing shoes that she had changed into for the evening ahead.
Congratulations Mr & Mrs Bruintjes thank you so much for having me capture your day. Wishing you and your gorgeous family a wonderful future together.
