My first of two weddings in Warwickshire in as many months and this was the first time I'd been to this part of the UK.
As Oliver is from the Warwick area and, until recently, where they worked together, Oliver and Anne choose the Lord Leycester Hospital, a beautiful 14th century building in the centre of Warwick with a wealth of history for their ceremony. Not a hospital as we know of the word today, it was set up to house the needy and in Elizabethan times was a place of retirement for old warriors and their wives.
Bridal preparations took place at the very pretty Mallory Court Hotel in Leamington Spa whilst the groom got ready at The Lazy Cow in the centre of Warwick, a short walk to the Lord Leycester Hospital. After the ceremony it was back to Mallory Court Hotel for the wedding breakfast and celebrations. It is here we also got some portrait shots in the beautiful gardens of Mallory Court.
Ann and Oliver met through work, Anne is German and Oliver just happens to speak the language fluently. He fell in love with Anne's classic Germanic beauty and the rest is history. A truly international affair, lots of Anne's family and friends came to the UK for their wedding day. There was German beer and wine after the ceremony in the courtyard of The Lord Leycester and a very German tradition where the bride and groom have to cut out a heart that is painted on a white bed sheet and meet in the middle. The groom then has to lift and carry his bride through the heart. I've never seen this before and was great fun to capture! I also loved the German cheese wedding cake.
Anne looked beautiful and a picture of classical elegance in a fitted Augusta Jones lace bridal gown with beautiful florals from The Flower Shop, Leamington Spa. The groom and groomsmen looked dapper (do people use that word these days? I do!) opting for very traditional tails.
It was a beautiful, happy and relaxed day - the entire family have a great sense of humour and I had a lot of fun with Anne, her mum and the bridesmaids in the morning. Thank you for having me there to document your day.
Here are some of my favourite images.
