This is a question that I am finding comes up with some of my clients when making the final decision on which wedding photography package to opt for. Some of my wedding collections come with a complimentary engagement session or you can book an engagement shoot with me as an optional extra, or even as a one-off session.
Some couples love the idea of an engagement shoot, whilst others are not so sure. Those not sure are generally the more camera-shy and it is for this very reason that I believe that is all the more reason to book that session.
An engagement shoot is a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera. It is also a good way to get know your photographer, further helping to alleviate any nerves you may have. You will learn how your photographer works and know what to expect in advance for your bride and groom portraits on your big day.
Your wedding day will go by so quickly and having had the benefit of an engagement session beforehand, this will make the time for your bride and groom portraits go so much more smoothly and confidently.
From my (the photographer's) perspective, the engagement shoot is a wonderful way for me to get to know your personalities better, to build a relationship and to help guide and make you feel more at ease. I'm in my element because I have no time pressure as on a wedding day and we can work at capturing some beautifully natural and romantic portraits as well as having some fun along the way.
I'm so looking forward to some of my clients' engagement sessions in Cheshire coming up soon. If you'd like any information on my engagement and/or wedding photography packages, you can find out more on my wedding photography information page or take a look at my engagement session gallery.
